In a remarkable demonstration of maritime innovation excellence, Barunastra ITS participated in the prestigious Indonesian Ship Contest (KKI) 2024, organized by the Pusat Prestasi Nasional (PUSPRESNAS) and and held at PPNS, Surabaya from October 23 to 28, 2024. The competition attracted participants from numerous colleges around Indonesia, resulting in an attractive demonstration of maritime technical skills. Barunastra showcased their expertise across multiple categories with an impressive fleet of three specialized vessels: the Marivolt competing in the Electrical Remote Control (ERC) category, utilizing sophisticated remote control systems; the MV GINEVRA representing the team in the Fuel Engine Remote Control (FERC) category, powered by an advanced engine propulsion system; and the AEGEUS demonstrating advanced programmed capabilities in the Autonomous Surface Vehicle (ASV) category through mission-based autonomous navigation. The team's dedication and technical excellence were particularly evident in the FERC category, where they secured an outstanding second-place finish with MV GINEVRA - marking their best achievement to date in this challenging division. Through exceptional performance across all divisions, the team's comprehensive mastery of maritime robotics technology ultimately secured them the Overall Champion title, reinforcing ITS's position as a leader in maritime robotics innovation.
This success was the culmination of an intensive preparation process that included multiple critical phases: initial registration, detailed proposal development, progress video documentation showcasing vessel development, rigorous quality control measures, regular trial runs to optimize vessel performance, comprehensive technical presentations, and final inspection and quarantine procedures before the competition. The achievement reflected not only technical excellence but also strong teamwork across all divisions, with each team member contributing their expertise to the project's success. Beyond the competitive aspects, Barunastra is actively engaged in building valuable relationships with teams from other participating universities, fostering a collaborative spirit within the maritime engineering community. This networking initiative enhanced the overall experience and created opportunities for knowledge exchange among participants from various institutions across Indonesia.
